Greece, the mother of European civilizations, the object of an admiration that lasted from the ancient time and still does, lies on the tip of Balkan peninsula. A great archeological site as well as great holiday land it has always attracted people from all over the world to come and enjoy the diverse pleasures it has to offer. It has been a center of evolving culture, home to the most famous philosophers such as Socrates and Plato, as well as the home of the father of history Herodotus, who among other things wrote about the Egyptian pyramids.
In it's huge amphitheaters, such as Epidaurus, the only branch of literature, that has not changed during the past thousands of years, tragedy, has been created. The thing people cannot stay indifferent to is Greek distinguishable architecture and sculpturing. Many of the temples have actually been saved, but most of the sculptures were lost and are known today thanks to Roman copies. The two wonders of the ancient world that were located in Greece, the Colossus of Rhodes and the statue of Zeus, can't be seen today because they were either destroyed or lost.
The Acropolis, however, still lies very firmly on Athens territory. This complex contains several temples dedicated to the goddess Athena, who according to the legend won the battle for this city over the god of the sea Poseidon, as well as many others. the most famous oracle of the time lived on the grounds of a city located in this mountainous land, called Delphi. This country was and today is one of the most famous olive oil exporters, that is known for its undeniable quality. And last but not least it is a land of exquisite natural beauty.
A huge number of islands surrounds it and allows you to embark on a ship cruise like no other. If you are willing to make your trip filled with leisure as well as adventure and time travel you should most definitely not miss the opportunity to visit this country.
PROGRAM:
Day 1 “Athens” Arrival to Athens ,you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel.Optional Athens by night tour. Your evening begins with a short panoramic drive through the City Center and at the slope of the sacred hill you will be able to see, admire and photo the illuminated Acropolis. Next you will visit the Museum and discover the divine origin of Ancient Greek musical instruments and enjoy travelling in the hidden paradise of Ancient Greek music history and sounds. Explore the greatest and only collection around the Universe, of more than 60 reconstructed Ancient Greek musical instruments. Then a pleasant walk through the narrow picturesque streets of Plaka, the old city, will bring you at a Typical Greek Tavern where you will enjoy your dinner following a floor show with live music and Greek Folk Dances in traditional costumes.Overnight
Day 2 “Athens” After Breakfast, Pick up from the Hotel for half day Athens City Tour. This tour gives you an opportunity to observe the striking contrasts that make Athens such a fascinating city. Our expert guides take you to see the center of the city, Constitution Square (Syntagma), the House of Parliament, the Memorial to the Unknown Soldier and the National Library. Driving down Herod Atticus street, you will see the Evzones in their picturesque uniform and the Presidential Palace. On your way to the Acropolis you will see the Hadrian’s Arch, visit the Temple of Olympian Zeus and you will make a short stop at the Panathenaic Stadium where the first Olympic Games of the modern era were held in 1896. On the Acropolis visit the architectural masterpieces of the Golden Age of Athens: the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion, and finally “the harmony between material and spirit“, the monument that “puts order in the mind“, the Parthenon. You complete the visit with the Museum of Acropolis.Free Time (after noon) or Optional Cape Sounion Tour Drive along the coastal road, past the wonderful beaches of Glyfada, Vouliagmeni and Varkiza to the most Southern point of Attica, Cape Sounion, where the white marble pillars of the Temple of Poseidon stand. On the way, you have a splendid view of the Saronic Gulf and the little islands offshore. After visiting the Temple of Poseidon, you have time to walk at leisure on the rocky promontory of Sounion. Day 3 “Athens” After Breakfast, Pick up from the hotel for F/D Delphi tour. Drive through the fertile plain of Beotia, crossing the towns of Thebes connected with the tragedy of King Oedipus - Levadia and Arachova (short stop on the way back).Arrive at Delphi, the center of Ancient World - the "Omphalos" (Navel of Earth) - whose prestige extended far beyond the boundaries of the Hellenic World.On the slopes of Mount Parnassus, in a landscape of unparalleled beauty and majesty, lie the ruins of the Sanctuary of Apollo Pythios.Visit the Treasury of the Athenians, the Temple of Apollo and the Museum containing such masterpieces of Ancient Greek sculpture as the bronze Charioteer and the famous athlete Aghias.Lunch in the modern village of Delphi, return to Athens by the same route. OR F/D Argolis tour. Leave by the coastal road along the Saronic Gulf to the Corinth Canal, which connects the Aegean Sea with the Ionian Sea, (short stop).Drive to Mycenae, the Homeric city of Atreides, the city "rich in gold" of the ancient poets.Visit the Lion's Gate, the Cyclopean Walls, and the Royal Tombs e.t.c.Depart for Nauplion through the fertile plain of Argolis, the picturesque town nestling at the foot of a cliff crowned by the mighty ramparts of the Palamidi Fortress (short photo stop), leave for Epidauros, to visit the Theatre (4th century B.C.) famous for its astonishing acoustics. Return to Athens by the National road connecting Epidauros with Corinth. Lunch in Mycenae. Overnight
Day 4 “Athens” After Breakfast, Pick up from the hotel for One Day Cruise to 3 Islands with lunch. In the morning we take you by bus, from Athens to Piraeus for your embarkation to the cruise boat. At: 08.30 depart to Hydra, where we arrive at: 11.45. Here you have free time for a walk or a swim.
At: 13.30 embarkation and sail for Aegina past through Poros and seashore of Peloponnese. The lunch will be served during the voyage. At: 15.30 we arrive at Aegina where you have time for a swim. Optional excursion, by bus, to the fine preserved Temple of Afea Athena. At: 18.00 embarkations for the voyage of return to the port. Arrive to Piraeus, late in the afternoon. Overnight
Day 5 “Athens” After Breakfast, Pick up from the hotel transfer to the airport for departure flight.
